We bid Shizuka and the Kandori's farewell at Itsukaichi station, and headed back to Hiroshima station with John. We bid him farewell, and met Stephen & Clare on the platform, awaiting the Sakura Shinkansen back to Shin-Osaka. Bought another eki bento for lunch (plus alcohol free beer which sadly, was pretty nasty!). The Hikari shinkansen left for Kyoto from the same platform and 15 minutes later we were in the huge Kyoto Station.
Easy to find the JR line to Yamashina, and then a short walk to the 'Big House' following Bob & Lily's excellent instructions. Lily had been able to have the house ready for us when we arrived just after midday. So after a short orientation tour of the house - spacious with many bedrooms, though only one bathroom, and on the ground floor. The living room is well sized, the internet works fine, and there is even Netflix if we were so inclined. The house is in the middle of a typical suburban neighbourhood, but with a range of shops and restaurants in easy reach.
After settling in we decide on an exhibition to the Fushari-Inari shrine, famous for its fox guardians, and its thousands of vermilion tori gates. It is only 3 stops by train on the JR pass, with a change of lines at Kyoto Station.

There is no mistaking our stop. The Inari station is emblazoned with orange timbers. Across the street, a tall vermilion tori gate frames the main hall of the temple.
